Web3 Newsletter - Week of Nov 7th
Phew. We still alive and breathing out there?? This has been a madhouse of a week with the FTX debacle, withdrawals being frozen from exchanges, and many people impacted (with many more in the cross-fire). For this newsletter I’m not going to be deep-diving into the FTX-stuff, but i’ll leave some links to dive deeper in the Learning section below.
In the meantime, let’s look at some other noteworthy things that came across my feed this past week, and see if we can’t highlight the special building and creating that’s going on in our blockchain ecosystem.

() Drift releases “Learning to Handle Change”, making them the first creator to mint-and-sell on Instagram (newly launched Digital Collectibles).

Oh and btw these sold out in about 10 seconds, and within a minute or two of sell out, were being sold on secondary for a minimum of 1.8Eth.

() Azuki announced a collaboration with AMBUSH, launching 2 PBT-enabled hoodies, and two pendant necklaces (one gold, one silver; each with dragon aesthetic stylized onto them)
In their words, this collab is “inspired by traditional Eastern craftsmanship, minimalistic design, & web3 culture” and will help “explore the intersection of different subcultures & web3 technology via the lens of fashion.”
The cost of these items for the drawing entry were:
0.35 Eth for Silver Dragon Pendant
0.55 Eth for Ambush x Azuki PBT Hoodie (any size, White or Black options)
1 Eth for Gold Dragon Pendant
The drawing has now ended, and winners have all been dropped their respective NFTs, with claim period for these wrapping up end of day today, Nov 14th.
I personally love the minimalist look of the hoodies, and collaborating with an existing known brand seems like another intentional and smart move by the Chiru Labs team.

Project Spotlight - Owange NFT
Beep, boop! Milestone achieved: 200K Owangers in Owange Town 🍊 Couldn't have done it without you! Stay !OWSome, Owangers! 💫Created by Kong Andri, & standing out as a community-driven NFT collection, Owange showcases outstanding art, founded in lore and storytelling. Plus it’s always anchored by the community focusing on being a safe-haven for those who need it (very important right now!).
After a massive tsunami shook Japan in 2011, the lead artist, Kong, created this imagery to raise funds for the victims of the event. It has since continued evolving, but keeping the same uplifting and supportive storylines.
4.) Owange NFT is about a young boy, called Toshiro, who lost his home, village and family to the tsunami. Toshiro is on a mission to spread happiness, friendship and growth on his journey, and to me represents a symbol of strength in times of darkness.
Focusing on underpromise-and-overdeliver, here’s a quick look at some of the parallels they’re building together (including a “how” and “why” section which I think is quite beneficial for roadmap and milestone discussions).

Learning Portal
This week, the FTX events took a heavy toll on some people. I won’t get into specifics of everything that unfolded, but I wanted to provide a post that will hopefully help us ‘zoom out’ and look at this with as much perspective as we’re able to while we’re ‘in it’.
I think with large events impacting the space, it’s important we have brief exposure & context where possible. We’re in this together, stay strong.

Zeneca provided their thoughts and larger perspective around the FTX events and spotlight we receive from this sort of thing. I share the initial, and some standout posts below.
On a day like today, there are two things that come to mind: The importance of Zooming Out, and The importance of Empathy. Some words:It's somewhat ironic that crypto is built on a foundation of trustlessness, and yet so many of us still place our trust in centralized platforms and entities. If this is you, don't beat yourself up. You're FAR from alone, and you're not stupid for doing so.Because of the unregulated nature of much of this space, especially on an international level, often what a centralized entity says is very different from the truth. We've seen it happen time and time again. It really sucks. It erodes trust in the space. Ironic, again.There's no easy or right answer to any of this. If there was, we wouldn't STILL be dealing with this shit. It's important to Zoom Out. I know a lot of people are hurting today. People are fearful, uncertain, doubtful. Genuinely. I feel for you. It really, really, really sucks.Most of the most successful people in this space have taken enormous Ls throughout the years. Literally almost every single person I've spoken to who is an "OG" has, at one point, lost a stupid amount of money. The ones that "make it" are the ones that learn, and stick around.I'm sorry for everyone caught up in these events. This is yet another in a long string of Black Swan events of 2022. It's been a BRUTAL year. Ever the optimist, I have tremendous confidence that as a space and as individuals we will learn from this and move on.^ there’s more, but I think that’s enough for snapshot context.
